Gatineau company Cogniva Information Solutions, previously coached by Cilex, just announced their change of ownership: Craig Eby (Chief Technology Officer since 2005) and Stéphane Huppé (Chief Operating Officer since 2018) recently purchased the business from founder Yves Marleau.
The two new co-owners have more than thirty years of experience in information management and software development between them.
It was in 2008 that previous owner and founder Yves Marleau had installed the company in Cilex’s offices. At the time, the LRTC (now Cilex) had offered Cogniva financial help through its investment fund to support the development of the language technology platform. Cilex also collaborated with Cogniva in recent years on a document management system project for the City of Gatineau.
Yves Marleau now hands over the reins of a company he founded more than 16 years ago in order to slowly transition toward his retirement. He will be supporting the new owners over the next two years as Vice-President of Business Development.
Let us mention that when Yves Marleau first arrived at Cilex, Cogniva only had two employees. When leaving in 2018, more than 30 people were employed by the Gatineau business.

Cogniva Information Solutions’ main product is their C3 software, which offers companies a simple and user-friendly metadata tagging and classification system that also complies with companies’ internal policies. Cogniva has numerous clients all over Canada and Europe.
